My many sports
Fri 7 Sep 2012
Hi, I’m Jack and I have moderate haemophilia type A.
I have had to give up many of the sports in my life. I started playing Basketball when I was 8 but due to ankle bleeds I had to stop. Later I moved on to waterpolo finding much fun in the sport and now currently enjoying rowing just as enthusiastically.
I find it inspiring to hear stories such as Chris Gordon’s or hearing about Alex Dowsett’s cycling career. I have been told by many people, that I cannot compete at an elite level in sport, because of my haemophilia. I think that this can be untrue.
I’d really be interested in hearing other people’s stories. And I’ve also decided to do a school project on sports and Haemophilia in adolescents, in order to find out if sport is beneficial for all of us and if I can go to elite levels with any sport. I’m wondering if anyone would mind if I use the story they tell on Factored In as well as mine in my project?
